He couldn't believe this was his last year of being inside this gym. The locker rooms of McKinley High, football, basketball, everything. It was all closing in so fast. It was the start of his senoir year. Last year of high school sports, last year to be quarterback of the Titans football team, last chance to make scouts know who he was so he could get the hell out of Lima, Ohio. Everything seemed to be passing by so fast. He had tended to not pay much attention to football his sophmore year upon joining glee and how much could that have cost as far as scouts noticing him? He had to do double the work, and try his best this year and make sure that the Titans go out on top and win state.
It became clear what he really needed to focus on when Rachel and him had the talk after Nationals and them going to where they are going to want to be, and for Finn it was far away from this town as he could possibly get. He didn't want to be a Lima loser forever. He wanted to get out, forget Lima, forget his mistakes, the past, his love, his loss, his stupidity - there was just to much to even try to understand.
The season didn't actually start for another week or so, but he needed to get back into the weight room. It was where he needed to start to get his spot, and lead the team to wins. He walked through the hallways of the school after the final bell rang. He had nothing better to do right after school anyways, so now was the perfect time to lift some weights and get a workout in. He headed through the gym and into the locker room before going over to his locker and changing into a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. Through the back of the locker room was the weight room and thats where he headed. Straight for the dumbells. He sat on the bench and started doing a few curl reps.

Football season was coming soon, and Sam wasn't completely sure whether to be excited, terrified, nervous, or D - all of the above. When he was a little kid, his dad had signed him up for football (naturally against his will), and he had been surprised when he started loving it. Now, the sport had a bit of a bitter edge to it, since it came with the other guys on the team acting like jerks just because he was in glee club. Sam knew the other guys in glee had the same problem - Finn, Puck, Mike, Artie - which was comforting in a way, since he knew that unlike so many other things, he wasn't going through this alone.
Of course, Sam didn't have much to worry about when it came to the actual game - he was a great player, even used to be the quarterback last year before he got injured. That had been when Finn took over again. Finn, the guy that had once ruled the school before turning into a glee club nerd. Sam didn't have a problem with him exactly - they were friends now; at least, he thought so - but last year, there had been some animosity. Finn had ended up with everything that Sam had wanted at the time. He got the popularity, the quarterback position, and the girl, all while managing to leave Sam behind in the dust to be laughed at and humiliated. While Finn came out back on top, he was at the bottom of the heap, no longer anything but the new kid. Luckily, Sam had gotten over that for the most part - sometimes, Finn could still get on his nerves, but they were bros now and that was all that mattered.
Speak of the devil and the devil shall appear, Sam couldn't help but think as he came into the weight room after shoving his stuff into his locker in the locker room. Finn was sitting there already, lifting weights and looking as focused as ever. A bit surprised, Sam stood there for a moment, not sure how to react. He soon decided to take up his reps as usual, counting in his head as he went. The silence, as strange as it sounds, was distracting, only because the blond could think of nothing other than how awkward he was being. It was probably because he'd been thinking about last year and how strained things had been between he and Finn that he was having this mental barrier that wasn't allowing him to speak. Eventually, Sam managed to say something: "'Sup." That could've been worse, he thought, slightly relieved. ___________________________________________________________________________ Word Count 444 Tags Finn Template By Arro @ Caution 2.0 Picture By Google Images

He needed to focus. He needed to get back into schedule, and he needed...well someone to work out with cause it was quite irritating and boring when you did all this alone. Usually he had Sam and Artie, or even Puck in here when he worked out. He was sure Artie was out doing something, besides he wasn't even sure if the boy in the chair was going out for the team again this year or not. It always brought a small chuckle from Finn at the thought of the team carrying him down the field in that chair. All for a girl.
It was then when he noticed the blonde headed boy walk into the weight room. There he was. Sam Evans, fellow glee club member, football teammate, and friend. There was that point in time when there was a little animosity between the two. Mostly because Finn didn't care, he needed back on top, and knew dating Quinn again was the way to do it. So that involved the cheating, hurting Sam, and then in the end wouldn't you believe it boy wonder here came to his senses and realized what he had with Quinn was over the year before last. He loved Quinn, but not the same anymore. He loved Rachel, and broke up with Quinn to get Rachel back only to realize, haha, it wouldn't work. So in the end, all of it was for nothing.
At least Sam was friends again with him. Quinn hadn't really spoken to him since the split, no summer seeing, hell school was back and he still barely talks with her. Things seemed to be okay between him and Sam though. At least he thought. He knew taking Quinn was wrong, and he's tried to make up for it. I think the moment Finn found out Sam was in a motel, was the moment they were friends again. "Not much man, just getting ready. You?" he asked him, trying to continue the talk so the awkward silence wouldn't replace itself again. [/blockquote]

It didn't take long for Finn to notice him walk in there, so sitting there some more in silence wasn't exactly an option for Sam. The blond's eyes darted around the room, taking in the sight of everything again, before forcing himself to focus on something, which would make it easier to concentrate on what he was doing and the conversation he felt obliged to continue. He stared at the furthest back wall from him, noticing all the ridges and bumps in the painted-over bricks.
"Same," Sam replied, not knowing what else to say. It was the truth, wasn't it? Anyone who came in here was likely one of the guys prepping for football season, and he was no excuse. "The new season's coming fast; I can't go around wasting time," he added, mostly to himself as a kind of motivation. Sometimes it was hard to haul ass into the weight room or onto the field and get going, especially what with glee club and his home life drama eating away all of his time. Any spare moment he could get to himself was precious and was usually spent either trying to get through his homework or working out. Sam was one of those guys who didn't mess around when it came to getting done what he needed to get done.
"So did summer break suck or what?" Sam asked conversationally, not liking the silence. Every summer had always been the same for him before moving to Lima - back in Tennessee, his mom and dad would always drag Stacy, Stevie, and him to his grandmother's house while the two of them went on their idea of a "romantic" vacation. He wasn't sure exactly what this entailed, and he wasn't sure he wanted to know. All he knew was that whenever it happened, he had to endure Granny Evans' six cats and endless talk of knitting patterns and "Back when your father was a boy...." stories. Ugh. This summer had been spent babysitting, which he wasn't sure was any better, since he wasn't exactly getting some sort of consolation prize for watching his little brother and sister. ___________________________________________________________________________ Word Count 358 Tags Finn Template By Arro @ Caution 2.0 Picture By Google Images

He continued doing his curling reps trying to work his arm out. He needed muscle for throwing power right? If he was going to be quarterback of the Titans for his last year again he needed his arm good. He heard Sam say that the season was fixing to start and he didn't need to waste time. He understood that. That was why he was there after all. That's why anyone would be in there. "I hear ya. I need to get back into shape since I'm working on a schloarship this year. Need to do something to get out of here." he said with a slight laugh and looked back down to the ground.
He pulled some more reps before hearing about summer sucking. That it surely did. Finn did absolutely nothing all summer break. Most kids were out partying or going on vacation, but Finn spent most of it either sleeping or playing his 360. "Totally." he answered. He didn't really see any of the other glee members during summer break so he was kind of curious as what everyone was up too. I mean summer vacation was what...three months right? That was a long time when you're used to seeing them most of the year during school.
"Sleep and 360 was my break. Unless I went down to get food. Plus the occasional dinner outing with Kurt and my mom and his dad. Those were always interesting an funny. Kurt would talk about his time spent and how well Blaine was doing. Or he'd be talking about some new way to re-decorate his room and what new, hot idea he had. "How was yours?" he asked finally curious as to how it was. Maybe he ha a little more fun this summer than Finn did.

"Well, if anyone on the team is lucky enough to get a scholarship, you're the only one who can really play, so..." Sam told Finn with a shrug. Unfortunately enough, this was more true than he would readily admit. At least Sam had another year, after Finn had graduated, to score quarterback and earn a scholarship. Well, that's how he hoped for things to play out. He was a decent football player, but his grades were barely scraping by. Not to mention, without a scholarship, he might as well forget about college.
Sam kept lifting before pausing to take a few breaths and reply, "Sounds like Kurt to me. And don't take the sleep thing for granted - I wish I would have gotten more of it." Most of the blond's nights started early and ended late. As soon as his mom had to take off for work, she woke he and his dad up, too. While Dad was kicked out to go job hunting, he was briefed in his responsibilities for the day, what to feed Stevie and Stacy at lunchtime, etc. His only break was before his little brother and sister woke up, when he could spend some quality time with his cell phone or attempt to catch up on summer reading. But once the two were awake, it all went downhill from there. It was making sure they didn't kill each other from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and then after lunch when the kids were finally awake, it was trying to entertain the duo and keep Stevie from evaporating his brains with too many episodes of Power Rangers.
To sum it all up, it was horrible. "I babysat all summer - no pay, no nothing. Went to bed late every night 'cause Mom's rule is 'stay up till both kids are snoring.' Then woke up as soon as she had to take off for work. It was pretty bad," Sam admitted with a sigh, spotting himself on the wall again. "It was better than spending it with my grandma, though." He smiled a little to himself at his own personal joke. Even if Finn didn't understand it, at least he had managed to find a little humor. ___________________________________________________________________________ Word Count 371 Tags Finn Template By Arro @ Caution 2.0 Picture By Google Images

EVERYONE THINKS THAT I HAVE IT ALLC A S T L E W A L L SBUT IT'S SO E M P T Y LIVING BEHIND THESE Twenty-seven, twenty-eight, Twenty-nine, Thirty….”
He counted as he finished another repetition of curls with the loose dumb bells. He looked over to Sam hearing that he sat her brother and sister all summer long. ”That’s cool though. How are they doing anyways?” he asked curiously since he hadn’t really seen them since he found out Sam was in a motel before summer break and all of that. It sounded like a better summer vacation than what he had. Even if it was just watched his brother and sister. Sometimes he felt like he was babysitting Kurt at times. Burt made sure Finn was always telling him to watch out for Kurt and make sure nothing happens to him. He didn’t mind though. Things were different from when they all started glee.
He and Kurt were brothers now, and he liked Kurt. He’d gone through a lot and Finn did make sure nobody messed with him or they would definitely get beef from Finn know matter how old Kurt was. Finn respected Kurt for who he was and how he stood up for what he believed in. Finn backed him one hundred percent now. Yea, things changed a lot between the duo and there probably wasn’t a thing Finn wouldn’t do for his step-brother. As long as it was within reasonable status.
He focused on his workout again. He knew he would be quarterback again. He didn’t know if Sam would be going for it again. If he did, Finn would definitely give him friendly competition. He wasn’t sure what Sam would do though on the team if Finn got quarterback. Did he play any other position? He remembered when Sam got quarterback after Finn quit and he felt bad praying to a grilled cheese sandwich for Sam to get injured. If Sam did get it, Finn wasn’t doing it twice so there was no worries there. He knew Sam had another year after Finn left so he was sure Sam would get his shining moment. Finn needed his first though.

A thoughtful expression crossed Sam's face as he tried to think of a good word to explain. "Um, they're good," he said, thinking of nothing more creative. "Summer made the motel thing a little more rough on them....mostly Stacy." Sam almost shuddered thinking about the troubled summer she'd had - being isolated from your friends all summer was some pretty rough business for a seven-year-old. Stacy was a fairly popular girl at school, as popular as a second grader could get, and had gotten a lot of chances to come over to her friends' houses and on the last day of school, Sam had found two or three different birthday party invitations in her backpack. His mom had quietly denied all requests, though, because Stacy had a bit of a big mouth sometimes and she didn't want her spilling anything about their situation to her friends' parents.
His mom had always taken the whole 'charity' thing harshly, not wanting to realize that the situation was bad enough to need help from anybody. Sam guessed that was how she managed to stay cheerful around the kids every day - pretending that things weren't really this bad, that this was a temporary thing. It would be hard to get on their feet again, but if anyone in the Evans family had enough hope to do it, it would be his mom. Sam's end of the bargain was easier to deal with now, and his friends from glee club had helped a lot with that. Finn especially, with Rachel's help, had been very supportive...after learning the truth, that is. At first, rumors were flying and Finn was skeptical of Sam's situation, accusing Quinn (Finn's then-girlfriend) of cheating on him with the blond. Along with many other things, Sam was also accused of being gay, and it was said that Kurt, Finn's stepbrother, was cheating on his boyfriend with him. It definitely wasn't the easiest time for him.
Sam counted off his reps under his breath before thinking up another thing to say, just to fill the silence. "How's Kurt been? I haven't really talked to him this year," he asked conversationally. "Outside of glee club, I mean." Kurt was a nice guy, but honestly, he wasn't someone that he talked to a lot. Conversation with Kurt was always interesting, though, and every conversation he'd ever had with him was memorable in one way or another.

EVERYONE THINKS THAT I HAVE IT ALLC A S T L E W A L L SBUT IT'S SO E M P T Y LIVING BEHIND THESE Finn looked over at Sam when he mentioned they were still in the motel for the summer. That must have sucked really for them all. He felt kind of bad considering Sam could've came over to his house and hung out with his brother and sister. After all, Finn had the 360 so that could have given his brother something to do and Stacy probably could have done dress up with Kurt - as sad as it is to say. Kurt probably would have loved it every minute. That of course was, if he was home. "Your parents still having trouble finding work?" he asked curiously and then realizing it was really none of his business.
"That sucks. You should've called or something, we could have hung out or...something." he told the blonde headed kid across from him. He looked back down to the weight and began lifting again before hearing Sam ask how Kurt was doing. "Good I guess. I mean, when he's home. He spends a lot of time with Blaine so." he shrugged slightly, but understood the whole thing. Summer had hit and the duo had everyday together rather than just weekends and after school hours. Finn was stuck inside with nothing to do which completely sucked. It was somewhat the reason he was glad school started back up. Give him something to do and focus on. Like now.

"Your parents still having trouble finding work?" Finn asked, and Sam's heart sank. He never liked having to talk about those things, mainly because he had grown to be skeptical of everyone after losing their house, but he knew Finn was one of the few people he could really trust. "Uh...yeah," he said, but then further explained, "I mean, Mom still has that crappy job that's not really paying her-" which wasn't completely true, because she was getting paid; it just wasn't nearly enough to get by. "-but my dad's still looking." It was a rough situation for his family and him, but Sam was still getting by on the faint hope that things would start looking up for them soon. He was pretty sure that hope was the only way his parents kept themselves alive, so he would depend on the idea, too.
"Well, there's always Christmas break," Sam pointed out when Finn suggested that the two could've hung out. He was sure the kids would have enjoyed the change of scenery...thinking of his little brother and sister as 'the kids' always made him smile. Sometimes, he really did feel like he was their guardian, because his parents were gone for so much of the day that most of the time, he was all Stevie and Stacy had. "I mean, I'm not saying I'd wanna butt in on your family, but the holidays are, like, two days and they give us the whole week off," he added. Sam meant what he said; he didn't want to intrude on anyone's family scene. He knew how special the holidays were to him - Christmas was the one day a year that his mom and dad were home for the full day - and if other people felt that way, too, he didn't want to ruin it for them.
Sam was happy to hear that Kurt was doing well, but he furrowed his brow in confusion when he heard the name 'Blaine.' He was very aware that Kurt had acquired a boyfriend after transferring to Dalton, and that the two hadn't broke up when Kurt transferred back to McKinley, but he didn't know the guy that well (they'd met once at Rachel's party last year, and he seemed alright...but yet again, they were both drunk as hell) they and since Kurt was a friend of his, he didn't want him to get hurt. Sam figured that the whole break-up scenario was the same for both gay and straight couples, and since he'd been through that before, it would've sucked to have to see Kurt go through it...especially because he knew that Blaine was his first boyfriend. "Does Blaine seem...y'know, alright?" Sam asked a bit awkwardly, staring at a spot on the floor. He didn't want to sound like he was creepy or like he liked Kurt or anything. He just knew he could trust Finn's opinion, since Finn was Kurt's stepbrother. ___________________________________________________________________________ Word Count 489 Tags Finn Template By Arro @ Caution 2.0 Picture By Google Images
