finn hudson, just your average teenage boy who likes to do just about anything within reason. although lately, within reason wasn't really something he had going for himself. it was sunday, the end of the weekend, and he had no plans what so ever. he was at home, online on call of duty on his 360 gaming it up. burt and his mom were out of the house doing something and he figured kurt was out with blaine somewhere. they did seem to spend a lot of time together on weekends, but he understood that now that kurt was back at mckinley he didn't get to see blaine during the week as much, even if at all. he sat in a beanbag thrwon in the middle of the room, his fingers working the buttons as his army guy ran about firing shot after shot at other people connected on the server. it was a lot of fun, but it could get boring just as fast and today was just not his day for some reason.
he wasn't sure if it was just the boredom, or he had a lot on his mind these past few weeks. he kept dying which was unusual for him and he tossed the controller to the ground softly and sighed. "MAN, what is up with me today?!" he asked outloud directed at himself rather than anyone in particular. not that anyone would answer him in the house anyway since it was just him there alone. he stood up off his bag and walked over to his computer to see if anyone was online. he had a brief conversation with rachel earlier in the day, but like it says, it was brief. she decided she wanted a soy lattee and signed off. maybe he just needed a run to make time pass and make the boredom go away. so that's where he was headed.
he opened the front door and locked it behind him before taking off down the street. he needed the conditioning anyways. he was going to be the best quarterback he could be this next season since it was after all his last so he could use all the help he could get so he could get a football scholarshp or something somewhere and get out of Lima, Ohio. there were just too much stuff here he wanted to get away from, forget about, and move on. see normally on weekends he would be around quinn, but since he thought he belonged with rachel he broke that off like an idiot because both he and rachel knew that with graduation coming up and her going to new york, things would be better alone. better for the club as well as they cost them placing in nationals. he didn't want to think about any of it though. he turned the corner and continued to run. Quinn had, had a really rough night, which meant she woke up quite late the next morning. Well, late for her. It was about half past ten when she woke, which was about two hours later then the time she usually woke up. The blonde hopped straight out of bed though, going downstairs and seeing a note her mom had left her. ‘Gone out to see some friends, Quinnie. Be back soon, love mom.’ It read in her mother’s neat, fluent writing. She rolled her eyes at the word ‘Quinnie’, she wished her mom would stop calling her that. She wasn’t a baby any more; in fact she’d had a baby of her own. How much more convincing did she need that her daughter was seventeen years old and not one? She was polite though, so never said anything about it to her face. Instead, she just tried to keep any of her friends coming over in case her mom embarrassed her like usual.
The blonde crumpled up the note, throwing it in the bin and then looking around for something to eat or cook. She grabbed a box of ‘cornflakes’ and then opened the fridge to find some milk, because one thing Quinn didn’t like was dry cereal. She looked around the fridge, even right at the back and couldn’t find any milk what-so-ever. She sighed, annoyed before she shut the fridge door and put the box of cereal back on the counter. Then, she slowly made her way back up the stairs to get changed and get some money. That way she could at least go buy some milk and maybe even a coffee from the starbucks down the street. So, she quickly put on a dress and some make up before taking five dollars out of her purse and slipping it into her pocket.
Quinn grabbed her keys and walked out of the door, locking it behind her. She’d decided she was going to walk instead of take her car today because it was actually quite sunny and warm. So, she wandered down the street and smiled at the people she passed. Some of them she recognized, some of them she didn’t but she smiled anyway because it was the polite thing to do. Then, when she reached the familiar entrance to Starbucks the blonde wandered in. She ordered her favourite fresh coffee, and then paid the women that had served her and left. It wasn’t as busy as it sometimes was, because it was a weekend and not during the day when all the workers came in.
As she wandered back down the street, toward the small supermarket that was located near the middle of the town she saw someone running. She couldn’t tell who it was until he came a bit closer to her, the blonde smiled. Yes, she’d had history with Finn but she didn’t see now why they couldn’t just be friends. After all, friendship was better – and easier – then cutting someone completely out of your life. So, she smiled brightly and waved a little with the hand that wasn’t holding her coffee. “Hey.” Quinn called, looking over at him as he ran.

finn ran, and ran. seemed like he was running forever because before he knew he turned down a familar way. he hadn't even been paying attention. with the music in his ipod playing, and the idea of football in his head he ran. he was surprised how good of shape and condition he was still in considering it had been a whole year since football and he didn't exactly...try to stay in shape during offseason. he had ran from his house all the way to the middle of town though. sure it was a small town, but it still had a distance from one side to another if you didn't drive in a car.
finn ran past a couple of stores heading down the street until he looked up seeing a familar blonde girl waving at him. he slightly waved back to quinn before heading towards her still. he slowed down to a walk and pulled the earphones out of his ears so he could here. he probably looked gross with a big sweat stain on his shirt from the run, but it was come to expect when you ran for a long period of time. besides, it wasn't like he was expecting to run into quinn while he was out. actually he was surprised they were going to be talking now.
ever since before summer hit they haven't talked. they had broken up and then turned around and lost at nationals, and then summer hit. believe it or not he really hadn't spoken to anyone from school during the summer - next to kurt that was. he spent it playing 360 or sleeping because it was just to boring around the town to do anything. he smiled back the best he could while trying to catch his breath. "hey quinn. what's up?" he asked curiously. sure they dated and ended badly, but it was time to try to be friends perhaps. besides, they had year of glee to be around each other so they might as well try right?

Quinn smiled as he made is way over to her, taking a sip of her coffee. The blonde was curious as to why he was going for a run, because she’d hardly ever seen him do it before. Though, she didn’t ask because she didn’t want to seem nosy. After all, she had to admit that she wasn’t surprised to bump into him. In a town as small as Lima you bumped into someone you knew virtually every day, so she was used to it now. The only way you could avoid people was to leave your house really early and hope that nobody was an early bird as well; Quinn had never been the type to avoid people unless she was annoyed or something. It was always nice to bump into someone she could actually have a conversation with, rather than someone that tormented her or gossiped about her behind her back. Plus, she hadn’t seen Finn ever since they’d broken up for summer break.
“You’re a little sweaty.” She joked, giggling before taking another sip of her coffee. “I’m not doing much, you?”
[/b] The blonde asked, smiling again and looking up at him. She was pretty sure that she could move on from last year with Finn and being his friend would be better than having another enemy to add to her list. So, she hoped that Finn would at least try to be her friend as well. He was a good kid, but sometimes he was harder to read then most people. She’d always had trouble deciphering what he was thinking, she was sort-of used to it. She kept the bright smile on her face, cupping the coffee in both hands and taking one more sip as she waited for a reply. Well that was what happened when you ran for hours wasn’t it? He laughed slightly at the blonde. ”Well that’s what happens when you’re focused on a goal.” he told her with a nod. Football was going to be important this year. ”I’m focusing on football this year. I need a scholarship so I can go to college.” he told her. Quinn of all people would understand Finn wanting to leave Lima. They both talked about getting out of the town. Neither of them wanted to be Lima losers forever. Of course at the time they were still dating when they talked about it. He still felt bad for ending it the way he did with her. He knew the feelings though, and he knew they weren’t there for them anymore.
At least they were talking now. He liked Quinn as a person. Hell he loved Quinn. She was a good person with a good heart, and she deserved good things for herself. He hoped she got it and found what she wanted in life. He needed to do the same. It was good to have his friend though. They could try right? He didn’t see why not, he never actually wanted to stop talking to her all together when he told her how he felt in the truck that day. Besides that was hard considering they would still see each other in glee. Maybe being friends was what they needed, and who knows maybe like him and Rachel they will be better friends than when they were together?
”So, rumor is you’re going back to Cheerios? Are you sure you want to do that after what happened last year? The stuff Sue put you guys through?” he asked her honestly. Santana told him over the computer in an IM. She was bitching about Quinn and her both going for captain, and Finn raised an eyebrow considering. Sue was nuts and put the three girls through hell since the beginning. Finn helped Quinn realize that she wasn’t someone that could be pushed around and they all stood up to Sue and quit. He was slightly concerned about her wanting to go back. You know Finn, always worried about his friends.

Quinn smiled at Finn as he mentioned about college, because if she was honest that was her focus this year as well. After all, you only get one shot at senior year and she wasn’t going to blow it. College was important to her as well, she didn’t know which college she was going to attend. Though, she was pretty sure that it wouldn’t be in Lima and she had a feeling that she wouldn’t be the only one who wanted to escape being a Lima Loser. So, the blonde had already anticipated that the other kids would be working toward scholarships as well.
That’s why Q nodded as he spoke, she understood completely. It was the kind of thing they used to talk about when they were a couple, which was a memory she’d rather not face. If friendship was going to work between them then they would have to put their past behind them, but she was more than willing to do that. The blonde took another sip of her coffee as she tried to push those thoughts to the back of her mind and refocus on the real world. That’s when she heard him mention about her rejoining the Cheerio’s, which surprised her. Guess news really does travel fast in a small town... She thought, not sure whether to be offended or not. She decided on not, because after all she was sort of used to it by now.
“Yeah, I’m rejoining.” Quinn muttered, looking up at Finn. “I know it seems crazy after all that drama, but I’m sick of being a loser.” She admitted, moving her gaze from the boy in front of her and back down to her cup of coffee. “You know, this year means everything and I just don’t want to spend it at the bottom.” The blonde added, feeling a little stupid for actually telling somebody that. It was the kind of thing she usually kept to herself, but Finn would probably guess why she’d rejoin anyway. So, there was really no point in even trying to lie.

Finn knew exactly what she meant about not wanting to be a loser. He felt like he was headed for a long life of Lima, Ohio and he definitely didn't want that for sure. He had to - no he needed to go. He just wanted to put everything behind him and get on with his life. It was time for him too anyways. His mother even told him she would be sad and miss him for sure but she understood that he needed to do what he wanted. Same with Burt when it came to Kurt, although Finn wasn't quite sure what Kurt would be doing yet. He smiled slightly and nodded.
"Yeah, yeah. You know, it"s like you said we can't stay here forever and be Lima losers." he told her with a deep breath. He had to re-think what he was going to be doing this year. He knew he entire focus would be with football season, but even after that he was going to have to buckle down to get the grades needed for the school too that wanted to take him. It was already taking up most of his time. "I mean we can't be spending the year signing a bunch of songs by bands that aren't even around anymore." he told her with another nod. "Just don't lose your cool like last time. I really liked who you became when you weren't on the Cheerios. Don't let the popularity get to you, ya know?" he said. He would hate to see Quinn go back to being the Quinn he knew, dating, and almost had a child with, you know if it wasn't for Puck. He liked the new and improved Quinn.

Quinn truly didn’t want to spend her last year at McKinley at the bottom of the social pyramid; she’d had enough of it. She still got tormented and slushied when she walked down the corridors, it was horrible. Sure, she probably deserved some of it because of the way she used to treat people before she joined the Glee Club, but she’d learnt her lesson and moved on. It was too bad that nobody else at school could. So, she hoped that instead of beating them, this year she could join them. Of course, she’d never sink so low as to start slushying or bullying the New Directions, but she just wanted her popularity back. That way at least she wouldn’t have to deal with the slushies and the torment that would be good enough for her.
"I mean we can't be spending the year signing a bunch of songs by bands that aren't even around anymore." He said which was exactly what she had been thinking too. After all, she did love being in Glee and the music, but if she put all her focus into that it’d be just a wasting time that she could be using to up her status at this school. That was why she was more focused on the Cheerio’s and getting captain again, at least then if they won it would mean something and would improve her popularity. Were as, if the New Directions won something it wouldn’t mean anything. She’d given up the whole idea of maybe the Glee Club could become popular, because there was no doubt in her mind that it would never be cool. It’d been two years since the club had first been revamped and it still wasn’t any closer to becoming popular.
That’s when her thoughts were interrupted by Finn’s voice, causing her to refocus on the real world. "Just don't lose your cool like last time. I really liked who you became when you weren't on the Cheerios. Don't let the popularity get to you, ya know?" He said which made her smile. She didn’t know whether to be slightly offended or complimented by his commented, so she settled on complimented. “I’ll try,” She replied, looking up at him still smiling. “but I’m not making any promises. After all, you know just as well as I do that reputations are important at McKinley.”
[/b] Quinn muttered, truthfully. Although, she had to admit she prefared the girl she’d been last year as well.
