"I'm not keeping you from anything, am I?"Miki shook her head at the girl's inquiry.
"I just kind of forgot I had a dinner shift at Sanpuku. You should drop by sometime. We have teriyaki that can't be beat."
Miki guessed that around this time employees like Rory, an experienced cook, and Lindsay, a new waitress, were coming in for their shift. Having them around was always fun, since they manged to goof off to no end. Still, between the three of them, a good ten tables managed to get settled, filled with meals and cleaned. Hopefully the evening's clientele wouldn't be too ravenous.
"That would be wonderful, if you wouldn't mind. I'm sure the rest of the team would like to see them, too." The girl stated, regarding the pictures.
"I'll be sure to send them to you once I edit them." Miki replied softly.
The sun was already waning and it was becoming a bit colder. The breeze blew stronger around them and the leaves twirled along with it. Miki adjusted the scarf around her neck before accepting her camera back. She glanced at Rachel for a moment before smiling slightly.
"It was nice talking to you, Rachel. If you ever need me, I'm usually in the Astronomy classroom."
With that, and without a proper goodbye, the sophomore turned and grabbed her bag. Once her camera was safely bundled inside, she only turned once to wave goodbye to the senior before being off on her way. Her cheap little car, which she wasn't supposed to be driving when she barely had a license, was parked near the public bathrooms at the other side of the park. Her mother would eat her alive if she wasn't at Sanpuku in time for the dinner shift. Taking wider steps and avoiding the larger clusters of dead leaves, Miki contemplated the day's events. She managed to make a new acquaintance, which she would have to keep quiet from her Okaasan (lest she try and get her to invite Rachel over for lunch).
Perhaps her introverted childhood was blossoming into a more open adolescence.
