When it comes to friends, the most loyal and trustworthy in Kurt's opinion are the members of New Directions - they've been together through thick and thin, and he loves them for always being there for him and supporting him. When it comes to Rachel Berry, the friendship potential was always there, but the road to friendship was a dicey one - but after singing "For Good" on stage at the Gershwin, the two divas solidified their friendship beginning their journey to big dreams of bright lights and Broadway. While the yellow brick road to friendship took awhile to get there for Rachel, Kurt always had his sassy, fellow-diva, Mercedes at his side - always there to give a dose of sass and reality to anything, something Kurt adores about Mercedes.
When it comes to the rest of New Directions, Kurt would do pretty much anything for any of them - because they really are a family - a weird family, but a family nonetheless. Kurt's "family" of friends also extends to the members of the Dalton Academy Warblers, despite his departure, Kurt considers the members of the Warblers to be some of his good friends as well, even if they are rather hyper active and strange, Kurt is very fond of those boys in blazers.
Speaking of being fond of boys in blazers, one can't talk friends without discussing the boy who went from best friend to boyfriend, Blaine Anderson. Prior to the two of them getting together, Kurt felt like Blaine understood him better than anyone ever had, even the members of New Directions. Despite now being a couple, Kurt still thinks of Blaine as one of his best friends, and who better to have as a best friend than your boyfriend?
Romance wasn't always easy for Kurt Hummel, having endured numerous pit-stops to romantic bliss. There was an awkward moment of romance involving Mercedes that resulted in a busted window, but things were mended when Kurt came out to Mercedes, solidifying them as the best of friends. Finn Hudson was Kurt's first crush, and he was determined to get the quarterback to pay attention to him - even going as far as sabotage and setting up their parents to get them closer. However, the crush and determination to get his way backfired when Finn insulted him, breaking the diva's heart and causing a rift between the two that didn't fully heal until their parents got married and Finn's speech and dedication of "Just The Way You Are" broke the ice between them, giving birth to the duo known as Furt. Sam Evans was the new boy in school, and Kurt was once again determined to get what he wanted - a duet with the clearly from a bottle blonde. However, after Finn talked Sam out of the duet, Kurt moved on - watching as Quinn and Sam got closer.
Now, after all that - Blaine Anderson, the white knight in a blue blazer with red piping came out of the blue and swooped our favorite diva off his feet - but like Kurt's previous history with romance, it wasn't always easy. But, in the end - our diva and his white knight got their fairy tale ending, and Kurt is madly in love with the male lead of the Warblers.
When it comes to enemies, Kurt could list most of the McKinley High student body, especially after they voted him Prom Queen at Prom as a joke. Like most of New Directions, Kurt is tortured by the members of the McKinley High football team, but his main tormentor was always David Karofsky. At one point, David was constantly shoving and belitting Kurt, dwindling his defense to an all time low, but after meeting Blaine and garnering some courage, Kurt decided to face his bully head on. When David kissed him, Kurt was stunned, having never once thought that David could be gay, and things only got worse once that little kiss occurred, because now David's secret was in jeopardy and he was willing to do just about anything to keep it from getting out. After David threatened to kill him, Kurt's safety was very much in question, prompting him to transfer to Dalton Academy to be safe.
After David apologized, Kurt made his grand return to McKinley having been promised safety from the newly formed Bully Whips, manned by Santana and David. Kurt is willing to help David with who he is, but David is resistant to any help, especially after being crowned king to Kurt's queen at Prom.
Is David an enemy? Kurt's still not sure, because things have come to a stand-still, and only time will tell.
