i want my own dream, so bad i'm gonna scream! Dave Karofsky knew he shouldn't be in here. This was a place where he was pretty much banned from, given all the things he'd done, and Dave would be the first to admit he deserved his punishment. However, he knew that Brad, the eternally silent and meandering piano player, wouldn't mind if he looked at his sheet music. Just to make sure, Dave had emailed him to ask permission, mentioning that he was thinking about joining New Directions. This didn't seem to perturb Brad, who sent a cheerful response email and, true to form, wasn't around during the free period. Dave wandered into the choir room, looking at it, no one inside. It felt empty, a bit cold, even though the walls were brightly colored and there were posters all over the walls. "Sing it Out!" one said. Dave glanced at it curiously before walking over to the piano, where a big plastic Tupperware crate of music leaned next to the piano bench.
Dave sat down on the bench, testing out the keys. It'd recently been tuned, he could tell. Karofsky might not be the most musical person, but his father taught him how to play piano at a young age. It was coming in handy now that he needed to teach himself a song that would for sure get him into New Directions. He wanted to make things right, not just for Kurt. For all of them. It would be tough going for a while, though. Dave was all too aware of that. He pried open the crate, glancing at the sheer volume of sheet music and books inside. The top one was from Wicked; Dave quickly tossed that one aside. He was not singing anything from that. He wasn't a huge musical person, anyways. He liked the comedic musicals, like The Producers and Spamalot, but traditional musicals bothered him.
Anyways. Making things right to New Directions. He figured he owed them all something, and they were always hard up for members. Mr. Schuester told him he should join last year, but last year... it was a mess. Dave would admit as much. He looked at the next book - '100 Best Rock Songs of All Time, MTV'. Well, that could yield some results. He glanced at the table of contents, eyes scanning through the music. There was also the matter of picking a song that wouldn't send Blaine the Flying Warbler crashing through the choir room to shove him lightly again. It couldn't be a romantic song. That eliminated about seventy-five percent of all music ever made. Dave did have a few back-up songs in his house, just in case he couldn't find anything here.
'Baby One More Time'? Dave closed the book and put it aside, moving on to 'Broadway Classics Volume 6.' Volume Six? Jesus. This was going to be a long free period. words 478 lyrics scream | hsm3 ost

Finn was sitting in English IV waiting for the bell to ring. Seriously, he didn't understand why they had a English I, II, III, and a IV. Wasn't English all one language? Why did they get broken up so much? He knew he had to take his final year of it and he was glad it was his last. He was beginning to hate school work. There was way too much of it and he was already struggling with keeping grades up to be on the football team, but they didn't have to overload him. The bell finally arrived sounding the freedom of the day as he had a free period next before school let out. The English teacher rambled something about worksheets and chapters to do for homework. Great. More homework, just what the man needed.
It was a good thing he had a free period next because he wanted to head over tot he choir room and work on some stuff for glee. The last time he was there he ran into Rachel and their talk was - pleasant to say the least, but it made Finn realize how much he was neglecting the club so far this year. He was hoping to maybe run into her again over there so they could work on something maybe. He thought perhaps a duet since they worked so well together, but he also wasn't sure of the idea with her being back with Puck again.
It seemed everyone had someone now. Since reading Jacob's blog he had found out Quinn and Sam worked out there things because he knew how Quinn was when she didn't want to answer a question, but it gave it away that her and Sam were together again. Also, Finn found out from Santana that Puck and Rachel were back together after a nice little outburst in glee about now they had to worry about Puck and Rachel doing something to demise Nationals like him and Rachel did last year.
The only thing Finn had going for himself was football. It was a good distraction for now anyways. He headed down the hallway and turned into the choir room hoping to see Rachel or someone from the club, but instead saw David Karofsky sitting at the piano. What the hell was he doing in the choir room? "Dude, what are you doing here?" he asked curiously, suspicious of why he was there. Could you blame him? Dave was king of slushies, making fun of all the glee members, and much more. Not to mention, Kurt. TAG: HAL, I TRIED. xDD

i want my own dream, so bad i'm gonna scream! Broadway Classics Volume Six was yielding more results than the pop book, thankfully, even though Dave hadn't even heard of half of these musicals. He propped the book open to a certain page, leaving it in his lap, the sheet music for 'Oh What A Circus' staring back at him. From something called Evita. Dave didn't know Evita from a hole in the ground, but the song was definitely in his baritone range. He continued to read over the music - he liked how this song changed tempos and musicality midway through the song, going from melancholic and bitter to outwardly frustrated, rollicking, angry. Maybe an angry song wasn't the best choice in the world, though... Dave sighed, pulling a little blue tab out of a Post-it dispenser next to him, and tabbing the top of the page. He continued to leaf through the book.
"Dude, what are you doing here?"
Dave looked up immediately to see Finn Hudson. Well... that wasn't who he wanted to see. Probably better than Puckerman, or, even worse, Kurt, walking in here, but Finn didn't look very pleased about what he saw. The towering teenager stared at him suspiciously. Dave supposed he deserved that. Even though Dave couldn't help but respect Finn for everything he'd done to protect his friends, pregnant ex-girlfriend, ex-friends, and other assorted misfits, Dave doubted that feeling was reciprocated. He glanced up from the song he'd been looking at in the Broadway book ('Music of the Night'), face fairly blank. "Looking at music."
He paused. Finn would probably want more information than that. He closed up the book of sheet music, folding his hands together. "Brad said I could be in here, to look at his music. ...I was thinking of - well, Schuester always needs more Glee club members, and he wanted me to join last year, so I... I'm looking for something to audition with."
Hopefully Finn wouldn't attempt to kill him like he did Puckerman two years ago. The offenses didn't match up all that much, but Dave had a feeling quite a few people wanted to smash his nose in for what he did his junior year. Bully Whips really didn't do a lot for his reputation. But thank God it wasn't Kurt he was having this conversation with. The words would quickly go from 'I'm auditioning' to 'we all know what this is really about'. And that wasn't a conversation Dave was prepared to have again. Yet. words 418 lyrics scream | hsm3 ost
