" Hello, and welcome tonight! My name is Paris Eliza Hanafiah, and I’m twenty-one years old. Yes, that means I can buy alcohol. No, I will not buy you any. Anyways, where were we? Oh yeah, I’m Paris. I’m currently attending online classes from DeVry University, and currently working at The Lima Bean. It’s not exactly how I imagined my future when I was little, but it’s how things are for now. Oh, I suppose I should mention I’m an alum from William McKinley High School, where I tended to be a bit of a trouble maker. Not in the way of being a bully or anything, but I hung out more with the kids who were the rebels, the ones who would skip class to go get high by the lake. I don’t know why I did, really. I guess because my parents got divorced the summer before Freshman year of high school, and it was my way of dealing with it. More on that later, though. Anyways, though, what else did you want to know about me? Oh, I don’t see exactly how that’s any of your business, but if you must know, I identify as pansexual, and I’m attracted to all types of gender. I suppose I could say that I tend to be more attracted to women, but I wouldn’t say that I’m a lesbian. Hmm, let’s see, what else is there to know about me. Well, as you now know, I work at the Lima Bean. I also enjoy singing in my spare time, and sometimes I’ll play a couple of gigs at the local bars or even some in the surrounding towns. It’s nothing special, and the pay is crap, but it’s still fun. "
" Personality, is that what you asked? Well, I’d like to say that I’m determined, funny and playful. I don’t take a whole lot of things seriously unless I absolutely need to, and I like making jokes when I can. I’m friendly towards just about anyone, and I love meeting new people. But like everyone else, I’m not perfect. I’ve had my ups and downs in life, and sometimes if I get mad enough, I can have quite a bit of a tempter. It flares quickly sometimes, and normally I end up yelling. Thankfully not many people seem to make me that mad, but I have broken a couple of things by throwing them when I’m mad.
Oh, likes and dislikes? Can I just give you a list of those? Oh, I can? Wonderful! Okay, let’s start with the likes.
- I like singing and playing piano along with the ukulele
- Coffee, chocholate…anything sweet, really. I have a major sweet tooth.
- Dancing around my apartment in my underwear. No one can see me, okay? So it doesn’t matter.
- I like my job quite a bit. Plus I get a free cup of coffee per day.
- Also, I just like being around people. I’m a social person.
Okay, onto dislikes!
- I hate snow and cold weather. I always have been more of a summer girl, and I don’t tend to like the cold winters here.
- When my dad calls and starts speaking in Spanish to me. I know his family is from Spain, and he speaks it fluently, but I failed out of that class in high school. I’m much better at French, however.
- Romantic comedies. They just bug me, alright?
- I really hate it when people try to label my sexuality as either straight, gay or bisexual.
I guess that’s it’s for those, really. But as for dreams and such, I would love to someday get the chance to move to LA and record an album. Nothing fancy like the top 40 hits, but some indie type of music, maybe just me, a piano and a guitar player. If I don’t do that, I would love to try my hand at writing a book and being published. I’ve been writing since I was eleven years old, and my dad says I have quite an imagination, so I guess that’s a good thing. You need imagination to write, after all. My biggest fear would have to be losing my dad. After the divorce with mom, dad won custody of me, and got me through high school, even if I was quite a bit of a problematic child. We’re really close, and other than a couple aunts and uncles from his side of the family, I can’t imagine what I would do if something happened to him. "
" I was born on July 25th, 1990, to Antonio Hanafia and Monica White (she’s started going by her maiden name since the divorce). My parents were a young couple who had met when my mom went to Spain on a study abroad trip during college. They had fallen in love, and you know, did stuff while she was there. Mom had to come back to the states to finish her last semester of college, but during that time she also found out she was pregnant with me. She had dad had been keeping in touch via email and correspondence since she returned, and when she told him, he surprised her by flying to Bates College in Maine, and proposing. They were married the year after I was born, apparently. I’ve heard the story so many times, so forgive me for rushing through it; it’s really not too interesting, so you’re not missing out on much. Anyways, my parents were always really happy and in love for the first ten years of their marriage, but by the time I was around ten or eleven, they seemed to be arguing more and more. They divorced the summer before I started high school, as I mentioned before, and I guess I didn’t really know how to deal with that.
We had always been close as a family, and the divorce just kind of shocked me, I guess. That summer I started hanging out with the kids who the whole town called the stoners and such, and once school started, I was hanging out with the same group. I did some things with them that weren’t entirely legal, or that I was entirely proud of, either. I was blowing off almost all my classes my freshman year, and I got into drinking and smoking, and bad things like that. By the end of sophomore year, dad gave me an ultimatum. I either get my ass in gear and work it off so I can graduate, or I go to the boarding school that he attended when he was still living in Spain, and live with my uncle Gonzales and his crazy bat of a wife Esmeralda. I’ve heard stories of that place, and none of them are really pleasant, so I did what I was told, and by the time that June of my senior year rolled around, I was walking across the graduation stage with the rest of my class.
So that's how I ended up working here. I'm attending some online classes when I'm not working, just so I can get a higher education in case I ever want to do anything that requires more than just a high school diploma."
